The Hangout was created out of a desire to offer young people in Curaçao a space where they can grow, explore, and truly be themselves.
In a world where pressure and expectations are ever-increasing, The Hangout aims to provide a place for freedom, self-expression, and connection.
Our foundation is dedicated to fostering the creative, musical, and athletic development of youth—not only as a source of fun, but as a foundation for lasting mental and physical well-being. We encourage
young people to discover their talents, collaborate with others, and transform their creativity into something tangible. Whether through art, music, or sustainable product design, we want to show that creativity can also become a
form of entrepreneurship.
At The Hangout, everything revolves around community and authenticity. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where young people feel heard and seen—where they can express themselves freely and become part of an inspiring, supportive community.
To achieve this, we organize a wide range of workshops and activities, led by local professionals, that reflect the island’s vibrant skate, art, and music culture. We also host initiatives focused on sustainability and innovation, teaching young people to take responsibility for their environment and their future.
Our space serves not only as a creative hub but also as an open meeting place—a spot to hang out, learn, create, and collaborate. Musicians can use our music room to develop their talents, while artists, clubs, and other local initiatives can rent the space for their events, performances, or exhibitions.
In short: The Hangout is for youth, by youth—an inspiring place where talent, creativity, and connection come together, giving every young person the opportunity to shape their own path.

THE ART CORNER
At The Hangout’s Art Corner, creativity knows no limits. Here, young people can freely express themselves through painting on wood, canvas, or other creative surfaces. We work mainly with acrylic paint, but colored pencils and markers are also available for those who love to experiment.
This space host workshops led by local artists and professionals, inspired by Curaçao’s vibrant skate and art culture. Some workshops also focus on sustainability and upcycling, encouraging participants to create art using recycled materials.
The Art Corner is open during fixed hours for anyone who want to spend an afternoon exploring their creativity. It can also be rented by external groups or used for special workshops led by local creators.
THE MUSIC ROOM
Our fully equipped Music Room is the heart of The Hangout’s musical community. It features a drum set, guitar and bass amplifiers, speakers, and microphones—plus a house guitar and bass guitar for anyone who wants to jam. Musicians are also welcome to bring their own instruments and gear.
We offer music workshops and jam sessions led by local musicians, connecting young talent with professionals from Curaçao’s dynamic music scene. The room is open on set days and can be rented by individual musicians or bands who want to practice, collaborate, or simply explore their sound.

THE HANGOUT CORNER
The Hangout Corner is the perfect spot to relax, connect, and recharge. With cozy sofas, books, and games, it’s a place where young people can meet, chat, or unwind. You’ll also find a ping-pong table, foosball table, and dartboard—ideal for friendly matches and fun afternoons.
This space can host community workshops and local initiatives, from sustainability talks to small performances, all guided by local professionals. The area is always supervised by a manager, ensuring a safe and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
The Hangout Corner can also be rented by local clubs and organizations – such as gaming groups, theather clubs, or art collectives – looking for a creative and inspiring venue.
A Project to be proud of!
– Huize St Jozef –
Huize St. Jozef is a long-standing children’s home in Curaçao that provides safety, guidance, and stability to children who need extra care and support. Their mission is to offer a nurturing environment where kids can grow confidently and receive the structure they need in their daily lives.
Every Saturday, we have the joy of welcoming six children from Huize St. Jozef to join our Skate & Paint Workshop program. For these kids, it’s a chance to step outside their regular routines at the home and experience something completely different — a fun, creative break filled with freedom, expression, and exploration.
Together, we’re creating moments that inspire, empower, and give these children the space to shine in ways they don’t always get to in their day-to-day setting.
We hope to continue this project for a long time, so that even more children from Huize St. Jozef — and eventually from other youth programs on the island — can benefit from these creative and uplifting Saturdays. To keep offering this experience and to expand it to new groups of kids, we are still looking for additional sponsors who want to support this mission.

Calling all volunteers!
We’re looking for passionate volunteer supervisors to join us at The Hangout in Scherpenheuvel! If you love working with young people, being creative, and making a difference, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
As a volunteer, you’ll help guide creative activities, keep our Hangout space organized and welcoming, and support events both at our location and around the island. It’s a fun, hands-on role where no two days are the same!
You’ll be helping out on Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM, one or two times a month — and as we grow, you’ll be part of expanding our opening days and impact.
